The Wending WAY:

(On Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday)

Singular Purpose- get there, do not look back;

              Totality of Being focused on Arriving.

The FLOW of the crowd,

  Like a sweeping current,

  Of a brackish river merging with the ocean:

Vigorous and bountiful;

                 FULL of meshing bodies,

                Of OUT-S t  r  e   t c  h e d

                Heavenward, hands of hope,

                Fishing for limbs of Liberation,

While grasping green branches--

                Mocking sword play.

A sea of waving palms, crashing down,

   The tide coming in,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Engulfing the Noble Donkey,
    whom gingerly plows through
    The hypnotic crowd
    Of passionate parade participants
    Starving souls SCREAM OUT:
              SAVE us, NOW!
The Light load,
   on the Donkey’s back
   Bound for Glory.
Weight conveyed from colt to cross…
LOVE Lingers in between,
  Lounging around, all evening,
  Telling of times yet to come.
     While the hungry herd lusciously devours bread,
       Gulps wine and gropes for answers.
LOVE Laughs,
  And leaves The Table;
Turning,
  To show them,
     The terrifying and wonder-filled
         Wending WAY:
Washing feet, forgiving, foretelling,
Fishing for men and maddening the Prideful,
Empowering the Poor,
Dignifying the Prostitute,
Lifting-Up the lame,
Latching-on to the lost and the last,
Purifying the Peace of Mind,
For prisoners of Painful ponders,
And Engendering the Eunuchs.
…Until Enough is said.
  And then,
         LOVE Leads-
                   -THE WAY-
                            OUT.
